Ministry wants to extend subsidization of railway grain exports

MOSCOW, Jun 18 (PRIME) -- The Russian Agriculture Ministry has suggested prolongation of subsidization of grain exports via railroad for one more year until June 30, 2019, but the amount of participanting regions may be reduced, as seen by PRIME in a draft government ruling published on the government’s website for disclosure of legal data on Monday.

In December 2017, the government decided to subsidize railroad transportation of grain from 13 Russian regions to export ports until the end of June 2018. The government estimated transportation from the regions in the period at 3.18 million tonnes, and allocated 3 billion rubles on subsidies.

The ministry suggested prolongation of the subsidization program’s deadline until June 30, 2019, and cut the amount of regions that participate in the program to five from 13 -- the Orenburg, Kurgan, Novosibirsk, Omsk, and Krasnoyarsk regions. The draft ruling sees subsidized grain transportation from the regions reaching 1.024 million tonnes, and additional subsidies of 1.371 billion rubles.
